Gary Bettman and the NHL Facing Outrage Over Treatment of Hockey Content Creators

Gary Bettman and the NHL are once again in hot water following allegations of their misuse of copyright claim against hockey content creators.

Gary Bettman has long been a thorn in the side of many hockey fans, gathering the bulk of the ire of viewers when anything in the league goes wrong.

However, the latest allegations against the multi-decade tenured Commissioner and the NHL seem to have crossed into a more personal territory.

Popular hockey YouTuber Eck posted a video Friday sharing that his channel was in trouble, but not with subscriber base nor overall viewership.

Instead, he alleges that the NHL has been going through his content backlog and copyright claiming him into effective demonetization.

However, according to Eck and many of his viewers, he is not alone in being a target of potential copyright misuse.

Commenters shared that the league also engaged in these manual claims against Hockey Psychology, Next Man Up, and in livestream blocks against 2BC Productions.

Unfortunately, this seems to have become a pattern of Gary Bettman's NHL: taking all fans who have started a career talking about something they love and cutting them off at the knee.

While the league has yet to respond claim misuse allegations, it is reasonable to assume that this could be the new normal, especially with Bettman's intentions to keep himself at the head of the NHL.

With so many reportedly claimed videos likely fall under fair use, hopefully, these decisions will be reversed, and the NHL will not continue this self-sabotaging habit.
