Cutter Gauthier's return to Philadelphia was full of drama and hatred from the crowd, but it's safe to say it got mixed reactions from the Flyers locker room.
Saturday night's slate in the NHL was stacked full of mouth watering matchups, but for those fans that wanted to tune in and see a fanbase hate on a 20-year old that did them dirty a year ago, the Anaheim Ducks vs. Philadelphia Flyers matchup was perfect for that.
From the outset, Flyers fans made it known that they still have mass amounts of hatred for Cutter Gauthier, even beginning a chant early in the game with plenty of profanity.
Now, video from the game has emerged showing that disdain may carry over to the team as well, with star forward Travis Konecny making it clear with Gauthier that he's ready to fight him at any time.
"I'll fight you. I promise you that I'll f***ing fight you."
As for Head Coach John Tortorella, he wasn't happy with how the crowd behaved during the game, and instead he would much prefer the fans in attendance to get that passionate and consistently loud for the teams playoff push, rather than an opposing player.
"I think it's a bunch of bullshit. All I told our team is let's worry about ourselves and play a hockey game. The bullshit is for you guys. All the drama, that's for you guys, whatever you need to do with it."
"You know what I hope? I hope we can play in front of a crowd like that about something meaningful. Not the shit, whatever you guys are talking about, I hope it means something to the organization as far as winning and losing.
That's when we wanna see a crowd like that, not all this stuff you guys are talking about. I want it to be that we're a team to be reckoned with in a playoff series or whatever it may be, not this shit."
Ultimately, it appears as though we aren't nearing the end of this saga, as the players and fans were both up for the game in Gauthier's return as evident in the 6-0 win, so now we will see how things are handled the next time they do battle.
