John Tortorella has never been known as a person that holds his thoughts in after games, and on Saturday, the Flyers Head Coach was once again furious, and he let it out on the officials after the game.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been fighting hard early in the 2024/25 season, but like on Saturday against the Boston Bruins, the results simply haven't gone their way thus far.

During the game, Charlie McAvoy went after Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkov, and after tripping him, to which McAvoy seemingly believed was a dive, he went after the young forward again, prompting Owen Tippett and both teams to all get involved in the situation.

With the officials seemingly not making the call Tortorella was looking for, he began his post-game press conference in a very fiery way, like only the veteran coach can.

«Yeah, let me start. One thing I teach my team to do is not dive. Maybe I should start teaching them that, the way this has gone here, the way this shit goes on, maybe I should start teaching them how to dive.»

Unfortunately for the Flyers, they fell in this game 4-3 in overtime, so while the call certainly didn't cost them an opportunity to win a game, the way the officials allowed an opposing team to treat the Flyers star rookie didn't sit right with Tortorella, or their fans.

Given Michkov's high profile, it's no surprise that this type of thing has been happening to him this season, as teams want to test young players, but this just wasn't necessary on the part of McAvoy.

Ultimately, everyone involved in the play was fine so there's going to be no long-term issues, but if this keeps happening, expect Tortorella to get more and more fired up at press conferences as he looks to get Michkov settled and confident at the NHL level.
