This past week, one of the biggest talking points in the NHL has been Ryan Reaves hit on Darnell Nurse, one that may have described as dirty and unnecessary, ultimately resulting in a much deserved five game suspension.
Now, after almost a week, Edmonton's Darnell Nurse has opened up on the hit that left him bloodied and bruised, and unsurprisingly, he revealed that he won't be accepting Reaves' apology.
When asked about the intent behind the hit from Toronto's enforcer, Nurse made it clear that he believes Reaves was intentionally trying to hurt someone, a move that the NHL is pushing to get rid of in today's game.
While this type of a hit could be excused from other players, given that Reaves offers very little beyond his physicality, it's very easy to see why Nurse feels the way he does, and many in his situation would feel the same and refuse to accept an apology.
The Maple Leafs and Oilers will meet again in February, this time on Oilers home ice, and if Reaves can find himself not a healthy scratch and get into the game on that night, it's safe to say that he'll receive quite the reaction from the Oilers fans in attendance.
With Nurse refusing to accept Reaves' apology and the animosity between the two growing, this could lead to a big showdown next time they meet, and if Reaves is in the game, it could be a bloodbath between two Stanley Cup contending Canadian teams.
