Recently, Robin Lehner was the centre of attention in Vegas, and know he's adressed the entire situation with a brief statement.
Despite being out of the spotlight and the NHL for the past two years due to injury, Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner was again thrust into the spotlight recently after the veteran failed to report to camp. He reportedly needed to arrive at camp to undergo a medical exam, and while this led to the Golden Knights reportedly looking to the NHL for a way to get out of his deal, GM Kelly McCrimmon addressed the situation.
«(Robin) not be reporting to the club this year,» Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon said Thursday. «He continues to be unfit to play. There are unique circumstances surrounding this situation that the NHL, the NHLPA and (Vegas) are working through. Collectively, we are assessing our next steps, and when we have more to say, we will.»
Now, Lehner has officially released a brief statement on the situation, keeping it short and simple and revealing that his absence was expected and he will continue to wait for things to be sorted out.
"All I can say at this time is everyone knows why I couldn't be there. I am waiting calmly for things to be sorted out," said Lehner as per Sin Bin Vegas.
It's unclear why this story was made to be what it was if Lehner's absence was already expected, but it's unlikely we've heard the last of it, as Lehner will miss his third straight season due to injury, with the Golden Knights seemingly looking for a way to get out of his contract.
