Pittsburgh Penguins acquire former sixth overall pick Cody Glass from Nashville

It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired former sixth overall pick Cody Glass from the Nashville Predators.

Following a whirlwind morning where the Pittsburgh Penguins traded the St. Louis Blues back their own second round pick ahead of offer sheets to Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg, the Penguins have now acquired 6 foot 3 centreman and former sixth overall pick Cody Glass from the Nashville Predators.

Formerly one of the most hyped up prospects in hockey, Cody Glass has suffered many injuries, but still has a lot of potential to be a good middle-six forward for a very long time.

In Cody Glass' last full AHL season, he had nearly a point per game, and has strong and smart two-way play that sets him apart from competition - in a good situation in Pittsburgh he could be a big impact maker.

Going directly after Cale Makar and Elias Pettersson in the 2017 NHL entry draft, expectations were extremely high for Cody Glass. He was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for former second overall pick Nolan Patrick, and then to the Nashville Predators.

In the Max Pacioretty trade, the Montreal Canadiens and then-GM Marc Bergevin asked for Cody Glass from the Vegas Golden Knights, but ultimately was given a consolation prize of Nick Suzuki.

As the Nashville Predators look to turn around their fortunes with major free agent signings of Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei, clearing Glass' cap room will be helpful.
