Controversial Olympian Imane Khelif silences her haters with gold medal win

Following her notorious fight against Angela Carini, controversial boxer Imane Khelif silenced her haters after defeating Yang Liu for the gold medal in the Paris Olympics.

The Paris Olympics have been no stranger to controversy, with many sports fans calling it the worst of their lifetimes. Aside from issues with individual competitors, many point to the total disregard for health in the organization of triathlon events. After numerous reports indicated that the Seine was too contaminated, the committee let all activities proceed. This resulted in several athletes falling ill, including Belgium's Claire Michel, whose team was forced to withdraw.

"The BOIC and Belgian Triathlon must unfortunately announce that the 'Belgian Hammers' will not be starting the mixed relay at the Paris Olympic Games tomorrow. The decision, like this communication, was taken in consultation with the athletes and their entourage. Claire Michel, a member of the relay, is unfortunately ill and must withdraw from the competition."

However, among the most polarizing events came out of women's boxing. One of the earliest of these Olympic matches was between Italy's Angel Carini and Algeria's Imane Khelif. Angela Carini, having been hit harder than she could handle, withdrew from the match only 46 seconds into the first round. After Angela Carini refused to shake hands with Imane Khelif, the internet became overrun by bigoted conspiracy theories about the female boxer's gender identities. Later, Angela Carini apologized for her actions and all the trouble and pain she caused Imane Khelif, then wished for her to win the Olympics.

"Hi Imane! I hope you will reach the final and that you will win the Olympics."

Now, it seems both Imane Khelif and Angela Carini got their wish, as the Algerian boxer will take home the big title. After a brutal fight against Chinese boxer Yang Liu, Imane Khelif was announced as the gold medal winner, sending a huge message to those who doubted and belittled her while making her whole country proud.

"The winner on points by unanimous decision, gold-medalist, and Olympic Champion, in red from Algeria, Imane Khelif!"

Though this Paris Olympics journey did not start out the way she wanted, Imane Khelif has made history in Algeria and serves as an inspiration to strong women everywhere. Hopefully, this gold medal will silence all those who doubted her in her historic run.
