The MLB Home Run Derby was a huge event in sports on Monday, but unfortunately, the events were overshadowed by a dreadful National Anthem.

In a quiet week for sports, one event has emerged as the talking point across the world, but not for the way baseball would have liked. Heading into Monday and the marquee event of the MLB calendar the All-Star weekend, fans were expecting to see some of the best in action in the Home Run Derby, but things took a sharp turn heading into the event.
Grammy Award winner Ingrid Andress was tasked with the National Anthem, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a trainwreck;
The event went viral on social media, with many claiming it to be one of, if not the worst anthem performances in sports history, and now we know exactly what happened.
»I'm not gonna bulls**t y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to the MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun.»
- Ingrid Andress
According to Andress, she was intoxicated before the event and still went ahead with it, but vowed to check herself into rehab to hopefully get things under control, and while it's not a great excuse, she appears to be taking responsibility and action on the back of it. Unfortunately, this event could follow her for a long time to come, but with the All-Star game coming up, MLB have a chance to steal headlines for a good reason this time.
