Mitch Marner's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs seems murky at best, and now a top insider has revealed just how they've handled the situation this off-season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs once more failed to make it out of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with many people expecting sweeping changes this off-season. The team have already landed a new coach in Craig Berube, and are now reportedly turning their attention to Mitch Marner.

There's no interest from the Maple Leafs and Mitchell Marner in discussing an extension this summer.

While there were some expectations that Mitch Marner could look for an extension, that notion has been soundly denied, with the veteran expecting to either be traded or hit free agency next summer. Now, insider Pierre LeBrun has expanded what we know of the situation in Toronto, revealing that the team are yet to approach him about a trade, with no teams yet making contact, but as the off-season rolls on, it's expected to happen.

Just FYI, it's my understanding as of this moment that the Maple Leafs have not spoken to a single team about Mitch Marner. The Leafs were focused on the coaching situation which they've handled now. But there hasn't been any trade conversations regarding Marner.
Obviously we'll see how the next two months play out, no doubt teams will come calling the Leafs on him closer to the draft next month.

With neither side wanting an extension, it seems to be just a matter of time until he's moved, whether it be ahead of the NHL Draft or at the trade deadline, but as of right now, don't expect Mitch Marner to be with his home town Maple Leafs for much longer.
