Craig Berube calls out Sheldon Keefe in first press conference

Craig Berube had his first press conference as the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier today, but could not pass the opportunity to call out Sheldon Keefe's inability to lead the team to success.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, unsurprisingly, repeated history yet again this playoff season, losing in another game seven against the Boston Bruins. As a result, team leadership stepped up and replaced the five-year tenured Sheldon Keefe and replaced him with former Leaf and Cup-winning head coach Craig Berube.

Craig Berube took on the challenge of coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs, drawn by the team's talent and his desire to push them to playoff success. He replaces Sheldon Keefe, who was let go after a disappointing postseason"

Yet, with this disappointing moment for Keefe, Berube took it one step further and slammed his coaching strategy. In this press conference, Berube implied that Keefe was incapable of utilizing all the players effectively, relying too heavily on a handful of players and weak game tactics.

"We don't want to be out-worked - ever. It's all about the team. Everybody's important, everybody has to be used, they all have roles. We want to play a north game, be fast, be a heavy team. Not running guys and fighting, but you have to be strong and win puck battles."

Toronto fans watching the press conference were only partially convinced. Though a portion of them agree almost entirely with Berube, others found this to be nothing more than a collective of cliches that are not enough to reverse the Maple Leafs' fortune.

While it is uncertain how different the team will play in their post-Keefe era, Craig Berube is a tried-and-true coach, having led the St. Louis Blue to their first Stanley Cup win in 2019. Hopefully for Toronto fans, he can turn another team around and lead them to victory.
