Danny Briere confirms scary news for Matvei Michkov's NHL future
Today a new statement from Danny Briere has been found that has Flyers fans worried about the NHL future of prospect Matvei Michkov.
Heading into the 2023 NHL Draft there was a ton of speculation about the timing of when SKA St. Petersburg forward Matvei Michkov would be able to come to the NHL. Regardless of this speculation, Matvei Michkov was selected in the top 10 by the Philadelphia Flyers.
A new statement from Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere has now clouded the future of Matvei Michkov even further. Many assumed that Matvei Michkov was still on schedule to be coming to the NHL in the next off-season or two. Now Danny Briere has said he is not sure if Matvei Michkov will be coming over.
This has caused major concern in the Philadelphia Flyers fan base. Some believe the statement from Danny Briere and are concerned he will not sign. Others are brushing it off as Danny Briere trying to keep the peace with the KHL and SKA St. Petersburg.
Whether the statement is accurate or not this seems to put an end to the possibility of Matvei Michkov coming to the Flyers this summer. He will likely spend one more season in the KHL before this conversation begins all over again.
