Terrible news is now confirmed for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Auston Matthews will not play in tonight's game against the Boston Bruins.

After suffering through an illness through the first four games, leaving Game 4 after the second period, and never returning, Auston Matthews will now miss his second straight game.

An illness, combined with a supposed injury has made him unable to play, and Sheldon Keefe has now confirmed it:

This is crushing news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who face elimination to the Boston Bruins tonight, and need all hands on deck to take them down. We will see if the Toronto Maple Leafs can fend off elimination and guarantee a game 7 in Boston; if they do, maybe Auston Matthews can return.
