I can honestly say this is not something I've seen before in all my years of watching hockey. Quinnipiac University's men's hockey team was up 7-1 in a game over Long Island University Monday night, Apparently Quinnipiac's coach wanted his other goaltender to get some ice time late in the third. It was taking too long to get a whistle so he got them to change on the fly. Check it out:
Obviously, there wasn't much of a chance of LIU pulling off a comeback at this point. Still, this seems like a very bold move and could have went sideways quickly. Luckily for coach Rand Pecknold, there was no harm done and his team cruised to the early victory.
