Marc-Andre Fleury Emerges as a Trade Target for Canadian Contender

The trade deadline is less than a month away and the goalie market needs to come to a close. Teams like Carolina, Seattle and Colorado are desperately looking to add a goalie for their playoff run. A wild card? The surging Edmonton Oilers.

Oilers aren't opposed to adding a goalie

It's clear that Stuart Skinner has most definitely picked it up and found his game, but he has a track record of losing his heat and not providing enough consistency. Besides, the Oilers backup goaltender is Calvin Picard, a below average backup goalie and a fringe AHL starter.

That's where MAF comes in, a veteran goaltender who most definitely wants to give one last shot at a chance of lifting the Stanley Cup. It's quite clear that the chances that the Minnesota Wild make the playoffs keep diminishing by the day. They sit 26th in the league standings and 7th in the Central Division. Definitely a surprise as they were favourites to go to the playoffs and even winning the division.

MAF could use a new place to play

Fleury has acted as a 1A 1B with Filip Gustavsson, so he's not opposed to doing so with Skinner. His stats haven't been exactly mind blowing, but with the resume of Fleury, it's always exciting to have the chance to add him to the fold of your team. The asking price probably wouldn't be expensive, Guerin would probably ask for at least a 3rd round pick and maximum a 2nd depending if they retain salary.

Exciting times ahead.

More details to come.
