In breaking news, this player involved in the 2018 World Junior Scandal has been charged with a second criminal offence, according to insiders.
McLeod Facing Two Criminal Charges in 2018 World Junior Investigation
The 2018 Team Canada World Junior investigation has hit its breakthrough with criminal charges being laid against the 5 players allegedly involved in the incident, and now being publically named. The 5 players include Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote.
One difference between the 5 players, though, is that Michael McLeod is facing an additional charge that the other players are not facing, being a 'party to' the crime.
New: Court documents obtained by @TSN_Sports and @CTVNationalNews confirm Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote have all been charged with s***** a******.
"Dillon Dube on or about the 19th day of June in the year 2018 at the City of London in the Southwest Region did commit a s***** a****** on E.M., contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada."
The document repeats the same allegation against each of the other four players and says McLeod is also facing an additional charge of s***** a****** for "being a party to the offence."
All of the players have said they will plead not guilty and the allegations against them have not been tested in court.
The players were arrested on Jan. 26 and their next appearance date is Feb. 5, according to the documents.
It is impossible to know exactly why McLeod is facing this additional charge without the details of the case being released. It will likely come to the surface as this plays out in court.
More details to follow.
