The NHL made a major change to promote inclusivity in the sport.

In breaking news, a reporter for Sportsnet Mark Spector highlighted a change in the NHL.

He shared on X that we could see the first female referee in an NHL game soon.

Indeed, the league changed the word "linesmen" for "linesperson", hinting that the NHL could break the gender barrier for the refs.

With Kirsten Welsh currently working in the AHL, she could be the reasons why the NHL changed the word for "linesperson".
