A 24-year-old defenceman has earned himself a contract for the rest of the season with the Pittsburgh Penguins after an impressive showing in the minors.

Defenceman Gets Contract from Penguins GM Kyle Dubas



Initially signed to just the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Dmitri Samorukov now has a full-fledged contract with Pittsburgh that carries a cap hit of $775,000.

"Samorukov, 24, has played 15 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League this season, recording one goal, four assists and five points. His five points are the third most among all team defensemen." - Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Signs a Blueliner for Remainder of the Season



Samorukov was drafted into the NHL by the Edmonton Oilers. He was taken in the third round, 84th overall, in 2017. Samorukov has played just three games in the NHL in his career; one for the Oilers, and two for the St. Louis Blues. He was flipped to St. Louis by Edmonton for Klim Kostin in 2022.
