After their brutal loss last night to the San Jose Sharks, many Oilers fans and analysts have been calling for a big change to occur to the team. Of course, the first person looked at is head Coach Jay Woodcroft. After the game, it even looked like he thought he was done as he mouthed something to his assistant coach while walking off the ice.
While he appeared to be worried about his job in that video, after the game Woodcroft assured that he was not thinking about losing his job.
Now, TSN's Ryan Rishaug has reported that it is likely Woodcroft will be at the helm at least until Saturday. There are no reports of a coaching change occurring, at least in the immediate short term, for the Oilers.
Clearly, something needs to change in Edmonton. Another loss will just dig the Oilers into a deeper hole that will make it harder for them to make the playoffs down the stretch.
