Trade Officially Underway in Montreal: Top Insider Pierre LeBrun Has Confirmed That a Canadiens Goalie is Being Eyed by Their Rival Carolina Hurricanes
The Montreal Canadiens are in a very unique spot, as they have three goaltenders on their roster. The resolution to this is a trade, and their rival is interested.
Montreal Canadiens' Three-Goalie Situation Likely to be Resolved by the Carolina Hurricanes Following Scary Health Update to Frederik Andersen
Earlier this week, Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen was sidelined with a scary blood-clotting issue. The contending Hurricanes first looked to Jaroslav Halak on a PTO to solve their goaltending issue, but it appears they have now shifted their focus to a trade.
Both the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings have three goalies on their roster, but with the Canadiens reportedly more interested in trading a goalie it certainly sounds like that is where things are headed.
A Recent Rivalry Between the Canadiens and Hurricanes
The Canadiens and Hurricanes' rivalry has emerged over the past 5 years, after former Habs GM Marc Bergevin unsuccessfully offer-sheeted Sebastian Aho, and Canes GM Don Waddell successfully offer-sheeted 3rd overall pick Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Per Pierre LeBrun, however, they may put their differences aside to make a deal:
LeBrun on Insider Trading: «Carolina keeping an eye on the 3 goalie situations in Detroit and Montreal among other places to see if maybe there is a trade fit»
Also mentions they've been talking to Halak, but no guarantee they sign him to a NHL contract.
Do you think there is a deal to be made here?
