By now, I'm certain that everyone is growing tired of the push and pull game being played between the NHL and NHLPA as the two sides continue talks on the hopeful Return to Play negotiations. As tiresome as it is for both sides, the fans have also been impacted by the delay in announcing an official date that they can circle on their calendars to mark the return of hockey.

According to Sportsnet's Brian Burke (by way of TheStar.com's Kevin McGran), the players may have a strong desire to remain with their families until after Christmas - so much so that Burke believes that the players are digging their heels in, which would likely force the delay of the 2020-21 season by another month.

As Burke pointed out during a radio interview, if players remain at home with their families until the 26th or 27th of December, they would then be forced to quarantine for 14 days after traveling to the cities in which their respective NHL clubs reside before training camps could open.

If true, this means that a standard two week training camp will effectively push the start of the 2020-21 campaign to the tail-end of January or the beginning of February.

2020, man... 2020. I think we'll all be much happier when we can put this one in the rearview.
