The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired a new prospect yesterday and have already decided to terminate his contract.
Penguins Terminate Plasek
Yesterday, the Penguins and the Canucks brokered a four-player trade in which the Pens acquired Jack Rathbone and Karel Plasek.
The Penguins have acquired defenseman Jack Rathbone and forward Karel Plasek from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Mark Friedman and Ty Glover.
Just one day after making this trade official, it has been confirmed that the Penguins have placed Plasek on unconditional waivers with the intention of terminating his contract.
Karel Plasek -- acquired yesterday by PIT from VCR -- is on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination
Plasek is a 23-year-old Czech forward who has very little North American experience and is likely going to be overseas for the rest of his career. This termination opens up a contract slot for the Penguins which they can use on whichever player or prospect they want.
