Late in the second intermission in the Avalanche's game against the Sharks, Cale Makar blocked a shot that seemed to have injured his left leg.

The severity of this injury is currently unknown but Makar is head and shoulders above the rest for the best defenseman in the world. If the Avalanche were to lose him for any extended period of time, they would risk losing their spot atop the Central division.
