The NHL's salary cap forces teams to make tough decisions every year.

Due to Gary Bettman's failure to keep the cap growing, a few NHL teams are struggling to comply with the strict rules.

Teams Present Reduced Rosters Because of Bettman

A few teams across the league are unable to field a full roster of 23 players and have had to make changes to adhere to the cap limit.

One team has only 20 players on its roster, and several have 21 players at the moment.

This means that 28 people have lost their jobs to start the new season.

"Due to Gary's extremely rigid salary cap crunch, several NHL teams cannot maintain a full 23-man roster. One team is at 20, and several are at 21. Overall, 28 NHL jobs have been lost, with 28 players squeezed out of the league.

A Brighter Future After These Tough Times

The league's revenues are rising, and ownership stability will help the NHL generate even more. Bettman is confident that things will start to look up.

The current cap is at $83.5 million and will approach $90 million next summer.

There are also current expansion rumors circulating. If it happens, the NHL would be in an even better position to increase the cap.

Do you think the salary cap should be removed?
