The Ottawa Senators announced Friday that they have signed 2020 draft pick Egor Sokolov to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Sokolov, 20, has spent the last three seasons playing in the QMJHL for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The left-winger was passed over during his first year of draft eligibility in 2019 after a 30-goal, 57-point season. However, after posting a 46-goal, 92-point campaign in 2019-20 the Senators chose to select him with their 61st pick.

It remains to be seen where Sokolov will play for the 2019-20 season. He could still return as an overage player for the Screaming Eagles, but given that he is 20 years old, it seems likely he will turn pro. If that is the case, expect to see him with the Belleville Senators of the AHL as he looks to continue developing his game.
