Massive Failed One-For-One Trade Falls Through at the Last Minute

The Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks are two teams looking up at the rest of the Pacific Division, as a playoff race seems unlikely for either team, and now, details of a potential trade between the two have been revealed.

According to recent reports, there has been buzz circulating that these teams could be looking for a trade, and now, one NHL insider has opened up on the details of the proposed deal that's since fallen through.

As Frank Seravalli calls it, the Canucks-Sharks deal would have been Tyler Myers for Kevin LaBanc straight up, but now, it appears that the deal is completely off the table.

That's because the Canucks pulled the deal with the hopes that Myers could help lead them to a playoff position in 2023-24, but if not, he could be a valuable asset that they could move at the deadline for more pieces.

In 78 games for Vancouver a season ago, Myers tallied 1 goal and 18 points, and while that may not seem like much, the physical defenseman impacts the game in many ways, and given the hauls we've seen at the deadline in recent years, this may be a smart play from the Canucks.
