The Edmonton Oilers seemingly made a splash with Jack Campbell last summer, but unfortunately, his year didn't turn out the way anyone expected, and now, his time in Edmonton could be coming to an end.

A massive overpay

After another solid season in Toronto, the Oilers handed Campbell a five-year, $25 million deal, and while the emergence of Stuart Skinner helped the team, it could spell the end for the veteran.

In 36 games last season, Campbell may have put together a solid 21-9-4 record, but it was his .888 save percentage and 3.41 GAA that worried the team, and now, it looks like the team's patience is wearing thin.

A move coming?

According to Allan Mitchell of The Athletic, if Campbell doesn't turn it around quickly, the team are going to lose patience and will likely look in a different direction.

If Campbell struggles again, it's possible the Oilers move him out in favour of a more consistent option. - Allan Mitchell

With names out on the trade block like Connor Hellebuyck, Alberta native Logan Thompson and John Gibson, the options are there if Edmonton are all in on a Stanley Cup, so as of right now, it appears Campbell won't be a major part of those plans.
