We Now Know Jake Allen's Future in Montreal

When the Canadiens traded for another goaltender Casey DeSmith, it was unclear what their next move would be for the current goalie Jake Allen.

According to Raphaël Doucet (via X.com), Jake Allen's fate has been sealed.

Trading DeSmith could potentially return some assets for the rebuilding Montreal Canadiens. However, Kent Hughes has stated that he doesn't want to stick any of his current 3 goalies in the minors, in the unlikely event they all pass waivers.

Montreal is already in a unique situation with their goalies, as Jake Allen and Sam Montembeault split time evenly last season. Adding a third goalie to the mix would further muddy the situation. Now, with the confirmation that Jake Allen is staying in Montreal, the question arises as to whether DeSmith or Montembeault will be next to leave the Canadiens.
