Wayne Gretzky has provided his take on a major Leafs move which has left fans pleased.

What Domi Brings To Toronto

Max Domi signed a one-year contract in Toronto worth $3 million. This seemed like an underwhelming contract for somebody who posted 56 points last season and that is because it is.

Domi took a hometown discount to play with the Leafs which has shocked many.

This decision that turned many heads turned one of the most notable ones in all of hockey, Wayne Gretzky's.

Gretzky Reacts To Domi's Signing

In an interview with the Leafs Morning Take, Gretzky provided insight into his thoughts on Domi's decision.

"One of the things that I'm really impressed with is that Max had some 2-3 year offers to go to other cities, and he chose, in his heart, 'I'm going to go there [Toronto], I'm going to take a little bit less money, I want to be a Leaf and show people that I can earn another contract,' and that's what you want as an organization.

You want your guys to be hungry, right? And good for Max. I think he's going to do great in Toronto... I think this is a really nice signing not only for Max but also for the Maple Leafs."

This is wonderful news to any Leafs fan as it gives them assurance that Domi wants to be a Leaf and money was not the motivator, similar to other Leafs stars. It will be interesting to see how he performs with him hometown team but if one thing is guaranteed, he will give it his all.
