The Blackhawks acquired Corey Perry earlier today and have signed him to a massive contract, overpaying him to keep him around.
Blackhawks and Perry Agree To Contract
The Blackhawks knew who their guy was when they traded a 7th round pick for Corey Perry who had mere days left on his current contract.
It was just announced that they will be giving him a massive contract to have him as a leader in the locker room and teach young players the ropes.

This may be the last contract of the 38 year old's career. He is coming off a 25 point season and is clearly a shell of the player he used to be.
However, $4 million for a player who will take on a mentorship role with number one pick Connor Bedard is worth it. Perry knows what it takes to win both as an individual and as a team. He has a Hart Trophy and a Stanley Cup and will teach Bedard the ropes.
Was this a good signing by the Blackhawks?
