BREAKING: Hurricanes Make Risky Move to Retain Captain Jordan Staal

Jordan Staal has been a Hurricane forever, but there was a worry he wouldn't stick around. To keep him, Carolina had to get creative.

The Hurricanes agreed to terms on a four-year, $11.2-million deal with their captain.

While on paper this seems great - Staal is a low-event bottom-six defensively-responsible centre, he is already 35, and will be 39 when this deal expires

Knowing that his game has already regressed significantly, this deal could be a disaster for the cup-hopeful Hurricanes.
