The buyout of the remaining four years of Oliver Ekman-Larsson's contract by the Vancouver Canucks happened just a few days ago. However, insiders are already predicting his next destination, and two pretty good sources believe it will be in the East.

Both Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman of Sportnet appear to believe that Ekman-Larsson will be signing a deal with the Boston Bruins. He apparently almost went there before, and both sides like what they see.

Marek: "We've talked about various teams that have made plays for Oliver Ekman-Larsson in the past, the Boston Bruins have been on that list."

Friedman: "...and he [OEL]likes them"

Marek: "That's one of the teams I've wondered about right out of the gate here."

Ekman-Larsson may not be the physical specimen he once was, but he can still add to a team, especially when it comes to the offensive side of things. The 31-year-old was once a force to be reckoned with, scoring the most game winning goals in a season by a defenceman (8), and becoming the first Swedish-born defenceman in NHL history to score more than 20 goals in a single season.
