As the Coyotes' future in Arizona remains uncertain, there has been a major update on a possible relocation city and their movement to build a new arena.
Major Development for an NHL Team in Atlanta
The NHL has not been in Atlanta since 2011. Since the Thrashers' departure, Atlanta has pushed for a new NHL franchise either as an expansion or as a relocation.
Currently, there is a movement for a new sports complex in Atlanta that would have the capacity to have an NHL team. NHL insider, Kevin Weekes reported this earlier today:
This is huge news for a potential NHL team in Atlanta. With it looking like the NHL could potentially have up to 40 teams in the league, a team in Atlanta would be a definite. The Thrashers making a comeback could be one of the best things for the league in their efforts to expand past 32 teams.
