Move over Bedard, hockey fans have found their new shiny toy.
This new toy comes via WHL rookie sensation Gavin McKenna, who has scouts already penciling him in as the 1st overall pick in 2026. That's right, McKenna isn't eligible to be drafted until 2026.
At just over 15 years of age, McKenna has already completed his first stint in the WHL, finishing at over a point per game average. That's no small feat for many prospects, but a 15 year old? Now that's impressive!
But hold on, it gets better. It turns out, Gavin McKenna is in fact, the cousin of Connor Bedard! Clearly, the hockey genes in this family are strong, as that makes two top-level prospects in a 4 year span for this Bedard/McKenna family.
What do you think, is it too early to label McKenna as the next generational prospect, or is the hype justified?
