Spring is always an exciting season for hockey fans. We get to watch playoff games, and the draft is getting closer, as well as the lottery! Teams are slowly starting to prepare to make the right selection at the upcoming draft in Nashville.
As all eyes turn to Connor Bedard, the sensational prodigy, another prospect is getting a lot of attention: Matvei Michkov.
He's labeled as the best Russian prospect since Alex Ovechkin. Unfortunately, his nationality and the current world situation weigh in, and his position may drastically drop.
It's rumored that at least one team in the top 10 will likely pass on Michkov, even with the opportunity to get generational talent on their roster.
Michkov Deemed Undraftable by Many Teams Ahead of the Draft
An insider from Quebec revealed that the Montreal Canadiens won't pick Michkov, even if he's the best player available when their pick comes.
"From what I hear, the Canadiens won't touch Michkov. It's too much trouble,"the insider said.
The lottery on Monday night will reveal who gets to have Connor Bedard on their team. But the fate of many young players will be sealed at that moment.
