The Allen Americans College Classic tournament game between the University of North Texas (UNT) and East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) was stopped prematurely on Saturday due to a brawl among fans in the stands during the first period. At the time of the incident, UNT was leading 1-0. Following the altercation, and cancellation of the game, UNT released the following statement

during today's game between UNT and ETBU, a physical altercation occurred in the stands right behind the Mean Green bench between a UNT fan, extra ETBU players and ETBU's head coach. The UNT hockey team had no involvement, and ETBU's actions were unjustified. Further actions have been taken due to this, and we will provide more information at a later date. It is unacceptable for a head coach to be involved in any altercation with fans and such behavior should not be tolerated. Coaches are expected to set an example for their players and be role models.

The fact that ETBU players also participated in the altercation further adds to the gravity of the situation. Such actions are reprehensible and have no place in sports or any other setting
