Scary Scene Unfolds as Top Female Skater Has Throat Slashed (VIDEO)
Just a horrifying scene unfolded during the Swedish women's final on Sunday.
Lulea D Jenni Hiirikoski made a desperation defensive play which led to a skate laceration on her neck. The incident caused a total panic on the ice as the other nine skaters and the officiating crew rushed to aid Hiirikoski while she awaited a trainer.
Scary scene at the Swedish womens final as Luleå defender Jenni Hiirikoski has a skate cut her throat. She was rushed to a hospital and is in stable condition. Luleå would end up winning the game after a 30 minute delay.

Lulea published an encouraging update after their 5-3 victory, stating that Hiirikoski underwent surgery and is in stable condition. She is expected to return home after further observation.
Team Release: "Jenni has had surgery and everything seems to have gone well. She will be under observation for a few hours and then the plan is for her to be able to go home from the hospital later tonight."
