Per Friedman, there's trouble in paradise between Yotes, GM John Chayka

Since it was first reported that Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka had been excluded from the Taylor Hall negotiations, the story that Chayka and Yotes ownership could be headed for a split has picked up a considerable amount of steam.

Even Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is having trouble making heads or tails out of the situation, stating that Coyotes President and CEO Xavier Gutierrez had seemed surprised just six weeks ago, when asked whether or not Chayka's job was in jeopardy when he was brought in.

We can't know for certain when the relationship began to sour, but what we do know is that, as Friedman explains, each team has submitted a list of 52 players and team personnel that will be permitted to enter the Toronto/Edmonton bubbles - and nobody seems to be able to confirm at this time whether or not Chayka is included on Arizona's list.

"As I write this, I can't say for certain that he's on the list. But, whether it is or isn't, there is a growing sense that Chayka and the Coyotes are headed for divorce," commented Friedman. He went on to indicate that another source had mentioned that Chayka's office has already been cleaned out.

While we cannot confirm at this point exactly what is happening in Arizona, we do know that things are starting to get interesting. Should Chayka be dismissed, he likely would not be unemployed very long, as he has done a remarkable job up to this point with the Yotes. Well, if you ignore the whole draft-eligible workout rule violations that is.
