Andrew Shaw has never been known for being quiet on or off the ice. The feisty forward has already announced he will not be returning to the Chicago Blackhawks until the 2020-21 season as he recovers from a concussion suffered back in November, one of many he's had to deal with throughout his career. He did take some today Thursday, however to appear on the popular podcast Spittin' Chiclets, where he talked about his time with the Montreal Canadiens. Shaw praised some teammates, but bashed another.

"[Phillip] Danault is probably one of their best players because he does all the little things the right way. I don't think he's getting the credit he deserves. "

“He plays for his childhood favourite team," Shaw continued. "He's an emotional guy. He loves the Canadiens and he loves being part of the organization, ”

“The guy is amazing,” Shaw said. He plays a lot and against the best lines of the other teams. He is capable of producing offensively and as soon as the Canadiens are in the defensive zone, he is on the ice. I trust he will be given a long-term contract there."

Shaw also took the time to praise Shea Weber for his intensity and leadership, something that shouldn't come as a surprise to most hockey fans. So who did he not like on the Habs?

"I don't like Greg Pateryn as a person. I'm for the boys. He's not."

While he was drafted by Toronto, Montreal was the first NHL team Pateryn played for, spending parts of six seasons with the Habs' organization before being shipped to Dallas during the 2017 entry draft. He is currently playing with the Minnesota Wild.

Shaw also took the time to poke some fun at former Montreal head coach and current Philadelphia assistant coach Michel Therrien. He talked about how Therrien would sneak away between periods to smoke and said no one could understand a word he was saying other than the swear words, which were used frequently. By comparison, he said current head coach Claude Julien was much better to play under.

“He allowed me to be myself, even if he kept my leash pretty tight,” Shaw said. "He understood that I was going to be better if he let me be me."

Shaw played for Montreal for two seasons starting in 2016 after playing for Chicago since 2011. He was traded back to the Blackhawks last summer.
