According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Detroit Red Wings have placed forward
Adam Erne on waiver for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.
Erne, 27, is in his fourth season with the Red Wings after spending parts of five years in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
In 43 games this season, the New Haven (Connecticut) native has 14 points (six goals, eight assists), eight penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.
If Erne clears waivers on Sunday afternoon, he'll be assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
