Veteran reporter Paul Hendrick parts ways with MLSE

A veteran of almost 30-years with Leafs TV and Leafs Nation Network, reporter Paul Hendrick has mutually parted ways with MLSE to spend more time with his wife, who is in the midst of a battle with cancer.

Hendrick has earned an enormous amount of respect from his colleagues, peers, coaches and players - past and present - for his contributions to the sport of hockey. The always humble, knowledgeable and classy reporter took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce the move and to thank Leafs Nation and MLSE with whom he had spent the majority of his career.

“Hockey and covering the Leafs has been a privilege. But it's now time to move on. I want to thank MLSE for a great adventure, the players, coaches, management and my dear colleagues over the years. And thank you Leafs Nation, your passion is unparalleled.”

Many have taken to Twitter as well to offer their thanks and well wishes to "Henny" following his departure from the organization, with a multitude of players among them. Names such as Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly, Travis Dermott and even former Leaf Tyler Bozak have all offered their support.

“First class always! Pleasure to work with you henny, all the best in the future! 👊” said Matthews.

"One of the great ones. All the best moving forward @HennyTweets" Rielly tweeted.

Dermott had a lengthier offering, thanking Hendrick for guiding him through the sometimes chaotic hockey-media scene.

"Henny, I have no words. In a hockey world that can be very overwhelming at times, you have a knack of making people (including myself on numerous occasions) feel comfortable and confident. You will be missed dearly. #leafsnation"

Bozak also had fond memories of working with Hendrick, prior to signing with the St. Louis Blues as a free agent a few seasons back.

"One of the best in the business. Was an absolute pleasure working alongside you, Henny. Thanks for everything and all the best."

Paul will be missed on the airwaves, but as a longtime Leafs fan, on behalf of all of Leafs Nation, thanks for everything Henny.
