Canucks GM Jim Benning denies Boeser trade rumours
Despite rumours surfacing this past week that the Vancouver Canucks were contemplating moving on from star winger Brock Boeser, Canucks GM Jim Benning met with the media via a conference call on Monday to dismiss the idea that any such move was ever on the table to begin with.
"We've been happy with him since we drafted him," Benning said. "I don't know where this stuff comes from. I have no intention of trading Brock Boeser."
There had been some talk that the Canucks had valued what the newly acquired Tyler Toffoli brought to the table above what the oft-injured Boeser has offered, but with Benning squashing the rumour before it grew legs, the Canucks can get back to focusing on the task at hand, which is defeating the Minnesota Wild in the qualifying round to find their way into the playoffs.
Boeser, who had been held to just 57 games this season has registered 161 points in 197 career NHL games. It was this type of production that earned Boeser a 3-year, $17.625M contract extension during this past offseason.
