Rick Tocchet's tenure in Vancouver got off to a rough start on Tuesday night. In the opening stanza of the Canucks' home game against the Chicago Blackhawks, one fan threw his jersey on the ice in protest of the organization's recent behavior.
Frankly, it's a little surprising that there was only one.

To add to the situation, the official handed the jersey to Canucks' jersey Luke Schenn on the bench. Maybe I'm just finding humor where there isn't any, but that seems funny.
That said, Vancouver was dominant in Tocchet's first game. They outshot the Blackhawks 48-14 and won the game 5-2. Pending UFA forward Andrei Kuzmenko scored two goals, Elias Pettersson and Luke Schenn each had two assists, while Brock Boeser, Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller and Bo Horvat each appeared on the scoresheet as well.
It's doubtful that Vancouver 180's themselves into the playoffs, but their first game under their new head coach was a success. It doesn't appear as though a tank will take place under Tocchet.
Are the Canucks a better team under Tocchet than Boudreau?
