According to Nikita Tryamkin's agent Todd Diamond, the Canucks and Tryamkin are expecting to sign a contract soon.

“I think we are expecting something to happen soon. We will work to get a deal done with the Canucks,” Diamond said.

There has been speculation that this would likely happen, and Diamond confirmed that Friday morning. Tryamkin, 25, last played with the Canucks during the 2016-17 season. In 66 games with the team that year, he posted two goals and nine points. He has spent the last three seasons in the KHL with Yekaterinburg Automobilist. The 2019-20 season saw him put up two goals and 11 points in 58 games.

Tryamkin was drafted by the Canucks in the third round (66th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 79 NHL contests in his career, managing 11 points. The 6-foot-7 defenceman would likely slide in on the team's third pairing if he were to sign a contract for the 2020-21 season.
