The Vegas Golden Knights have signed goalie prospect Jiri Patera to a three-year, entry-level contract, general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced Tuesday.

Patera, 21, played in 41 games this season for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. He was a runner up for goaltender of the year after putting up a 2.55 goals against average (GAA) and a .921 save percentage (SV%), along with a 24-12-4 record. This season was a big improvement for the Prague, Czech Republic native, after posting a much less impressive 3.31 GAA and a .906 SV% during the 2018-19 season.

The Golden Knights selected Patera in the sixth round (161 overall) at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He will make the transition to professional hockey next season, but the league he will play in remains to be seen.
