If you're a fan of Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, you have an idea of what to expect when watching a clip. Usually it entails ripping on pop culture, putting celebrities in ridiculous situations and/or parodying movies and television shows in completely outlandish ways using stop motion animation. Now in it's 10th season, and approaching 200 episodes, this week's episode of Robot Chicken features a segment called "I, Gritty", which uses Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty and Edmonton Oilers mascot Hunter to tell a story.
The segment was written by writer, stand up comedian, animator, podcast co-host, and actor Jamie Loftus, who called hockey mascots one of her "greatest passions." Loftus was born in Boston, but there's no mention of Blades the Bruin in the clip. In it, Gritty takes part in the Mascot Games and decides to take Hunter out of the competition. Enjoy!
