One NHL hub city reportedly already chosen

There are a number of reports Thursday stating the NHL has already made a decision on one of its two hub cities for its 24-team Return to Play plan slated to start sometime in August. Multiple reports suggest Las Vegas will be one of the hubs, with work already underway on the smaller details.

"Not sure who the other hub cities are but Las Vegas is in. League has venue(s) financially secured as well as accommodation and transportation," reported play-by-play broadcaster and sports radio host Rob Fai.

"Las Vegas has been working around the clock on this and has every element prepared from 6-8 teams per hotel to where players will eat, get tested, travel for practices, etc. Four venues for ice time available."

Fai goes on to say the NHL has already financially committed to this and any venue involved with hosting players will become a non-smoking area with no table gaming on site.

Adrian Dater, the owner and editor of Colorado Hockey Now, is also stating that Vegas has been chosen as one of the hub cities.

If these reports are correct, that leaves 10 other cities in the running to be the second location for the Return to Play plan. These include Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Pittsburgh. The NHL is expected to make an official announcement within the next couple of weeks. British Columbia just approved a plan that would allow NHL players to quarantine in team bubbles in Vancouver. That plans still require the approval of the federal government.
