Tage Thompson's seven-year, $50 million is looking like a straight up robbery at this point. Heading into the Sabres' Monday night matchup with Tampa Bay, Thompson had scored 26 points in 21 games so far in '22-23, and he scored an absolute dandy against the Lightning:

Some are saying that Thompson is displaying shades of Mario Lemieux. He obviously has a long way to go to hit that level, but his rare amalgamation of size and high-end skill do resemble Lemieux.

Buffalo scored a major, major W by signing Thompson at a mere $7.14M AAV for the next eight years (he is still on his entry-level deal for this season).
