In a press release today however, the Kings announced that Carter had undergone surgery successfully, for what was named a "core muscle injury", and that he is expected to be fully recovered for the start of next season.
Before the NHL's hiatus, the 35-year-old missed the last 10 games for his team, and it was unclear for how long he would be out. Now, with surgery successfully completed and the Kings missing out on playoffs, it seems Carter will get another go fully rehabilitated when next season starts.
Since the 2018-19 season, Jeff Carter has seen a dip in his points per game on a struggling LA Kings team. Though still a highly competent goal scorer, this year the 2003 11th overall pick scored 17 goals and 10 assists in 60 games, finishing with a -21 in the plus / minus differential department.
