I've heard several former hockey players say scoring on a former team never gets old. This one was likely extra special for Kirby Dach as in his first game against the Chicago Blackhawks since being traded from the team to the Montreal Canadians at the 2022 NHL entry draft. While it won't count in his goal numbers, Dach was able to put the final nail in Chicago's coffin Friday afternoon, getting the shootout winner as the Canadiens defeated the Blackhawks 3-2. After scoring the goal, Dach decided to taunt the Chicago fanbase, most of whom were likely cheering for him last year, by putting his hand up to his ear. In his defense, he was met with some boos when he took to the ice to start his shootout attempt.
While it's early on in his tenure with Montreal, Dach seems to have found his offensive touch so far, especially when on a line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. Right now, he has 4 goals and 17 points in 20 games.
