When the reports of the NHL pushing back training camps from mid-July to the beginning of August emerged today, many hockey fans were disappointed. As the NHL has made clear all-along however, the safety of the players will always come first as the league tries to finish the playoffs.

Now, yet another reminder of why the NHL's cautious approach likely is the only way to go has appeared, as the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier today announced that one of the team's players had tested positive for the coronavirus. In the Penguins statement released on Twitter, they did not clarify who the player was, nor when the player had tested positive.

They did however say that the affected player since had made a full recovery, and that he was not in Pittsburgh and had stayed in isolation.

Whether this will affect the NHL's return to play plan is yet to be seen.
